Come As You Are! (Kom som du är!)
Come As You Are! (Kom som du är!) is a public monument by Swedish artist Astrid Göransson, inaugurated on 15 June 2022 on Riksplan outside the Eastern Wing of Sweden's parliament building, the Riksdag, on the island of Helgeandsholmen in central Stockholm. The work was commissioned as a collaboration between the Swedish Parliament and the Public Art Agency Sweden to mark the centenary of democracy in Sweden. The monument consists of three elements: a mosaic paving stone path leading to the parliament entrance, a patinated bronze sculpture, and an accompanying book titled Rundor (Shifts), produced in collaboration with parliamentary staff. The bronze sculpture depicts the first five women elected to the Swedish Parliament in 1921 — Kerstin Hesselgren, Elisabeth Tamm, Nelly Thüring, Bertha Wellin, and Agda Östlund — carried forward by two young contemporary women, symbolising the continuing struggle for democracy and equality across generations. The work connects historical pioneers with future generations and serves as one of Stockholm's most significant contemporary monuments of democratic memory.
