Evert Taubes terrass
Evert Taubes terrass is a public terrace and promenade situated on the western edge of the island of Riddarholmen in central Stockholm, Sweden. The terrace lies between Wrangelska palatset and the waters of Riddarfjärden, forming part of Norra Riddarholmshamnen. It was laid out in the early 1980s and formally named in 1983 in honour of Evert Taube (1890–1976), Sweden's most celebrated troubadour, singer-songwriter, and poet. In 1990, a bronze statue of Taube sculpted by Willy Gordon was erected on the terrace, depicting him holding his characteristic lute and facing towards Södermalm, where he once lived. The statue's granite base incorporates stone from Vinga, the lighthouse island near Gothenburg where Taube spent his childhood. Adjacent to the terrace stands Solbåten, a sculpture by Christian Berg installed in 1966. The terrace affords sweeping views across Riddarfjärden towards Stockholm City Hall and Södermalm's shoreline, making it one of the finest sunset vantage points in the city. Admission is free and the site is open year-round.
