Hasselbacken
Hasselbacken is a historic hotel and restaurant located on Djurgården, the royal island park in central Stockholm, Sweden. The site's origins date to 1748, when it was originally known as Dunderhyttan ("the Thunder Hut"). In 1853, confectioner Jacob Wilhelm Davidson opened a formal restaurant on the premises, which rapidly became a venue for grand celebrations among Stockholm's upper classes and distinguished international guests. The building has been destroyed and rebuilt by fire multiple times over the centuries, with the current structure completed in 1925. A restaurant school operated on the premises from 1947 to 1969, during which time the now internationally recognised Hasselback potato was created in 1953. A hotel wing was added following renovations in the 1990s, offering 113 rooms. Today, Hasselbacken is part of the Cirkus Venues group.
