Glass mosaic at the 34th Street - Hudson Yards subway station
As part of the MTA's "Arts for Transit" initiative, three mosaics by Xenobia Bailey, covering approximately 2,788 square feet, were installed in various locations within the station. Titled Funktional Vibrations, these artworks draw inspiration from some of Bailey's crocheting patterns. One mosaic is situated in an oval recess in the ceiling of the upper mezzanine at 34th Street, while the other two are placed at the station entrances. The tiles for Funktional Vibrations were crafted by mosaic artist Stephen Miotto, who produced them in his studio in Carmel, New York. An additional section of the artwork is featured at the second entrance. This is the sole artwork in the station. A writer for Newsweek noted that although the station was "very clean but also a little antiseptic," and "cool" and "efficient," it lacked character due to its stark design.
