National Memorial to the Winter War
The National Memorial to the Winter War (Talvisodan muistomerkki) is a monument located in Helsinki, Finland, dedicated to the Finnish soldiers and civilians who participated in the Winter War (1939–1940) against the Soviet Union. The memorial was designed by sculptor Heikki Häiväoja and unveiled in 1990. It is situated in Linnanmäki Park, an area with historical significance.
The central feature of the memorial is a bronze statue of a Finnish soldier, symbolizing the bravery and determination of the Finnish forces during the war. Surrounding the statue are commemorative plaques listing the names of significant battles and locations where Finnish troops displayed extraordinary valor.
