Altstadt Kleinbasel
The Old Town of Kleinbasel is the part of the Old Town on the right bank of the Rhine in the Swiss city of Basel. Together with the Grossbasel part, it forms the historic center of the city and borders the Matthäus district to the north (Klingentalgraben, Riehenstrasse), the Clara district to the northeast (Klybeckstrasse, Claragraben), the Rhine to the south and the Wettstein district to the east (Claragraben, Wettsteinstrasse).
On the Kleinbasel side are the popular riverside squares on the banks of the Rhine, where the free FLOSS Festival takes place in late summer. Below the Mittlere Brücke is the former Klingental monastery with the Museum Kleines Klingental. The two districts are connected by the Middle Bridge and a Rhine ferry.
