Chelsea, Manhattan
Chelsea is a neighborhood on Manhattan's West Side, bordered by 14th Street to the south, the Hudson River and West Street to the west, Sixth Avenue to the east, and either the upper 20s or 34th Street to the north. It is adjacent to Hell’s Kitchen and Hudson Yards to the northwest, the Garment District and Midtown South to the northeast, NoMad and Flatiron District to the east, the Meatpacking District to the southwest, and the West and Greenwich Villages to the south. Named after a London estate, Chelsea has a mix of residential housing and is known for its art scene, with numerous galleries. It is home to a diverse population, including a large LGBTQ community. The neighborhood has seen gentrification, leading to income disparities. Chelsea is part of Community Districts 4 and 5, with ZIP Codes 10001 and 10011. It is policed by the 10th Precinct.
