One World Trade Center
One World Trade Center, commonly referred to as One WTC or the Freedom Tower, is the central building of the reconstructed World Trade Center complex located in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Designed by David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, it is the tallest building in the United States, the tallest in the Western Hemisphere, and ranks seventh in height globally. This iconic skyscraper shares its name with the North Tower of the original World Trade Center, which was lost in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The new structure is situated on the northwest corner of the 16-acre (6.5 ha) World Trade Center site, where the original 6 World Trade Center once stood. It is bordered by West Street to the west, Vesey Street to the north, Fulton Street to the south, and Washington Street to the east.
