Brooklyn Heights is a residential neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York City, bordered by Old Fulton Street near the Brooklyn Bridge to the north, Cadman Plaza West to the east, Atlantic Avenue to the south, and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway or East River to the west. It neighbors Dumbo, Downtown Brooklyn, Cobble Hill, and Boerum Hill. Once called Brooklyn Village, the area has been significant since 1834. Known for its brownstone rowhouses and historic churches, it became a landmark district in 1965, the first in New York City. Accessible by subway, ferry, and from Downtown Brooklyn, it has a ZIP code of 11201 and is part of Brooklyn Community District 2.
