Generali Media Tower, Wien
Until 1912, the site housed the so-called "Kroatenhaus." After its demolition in 1997, the site was occupied by the successor building, the "ÖMV-Haus," which was home to the OMV oil company starting in 1955. In a 1994 international competition, architect Hans Hollein won first prize. The design phase took place from 1994 to 1996, followed by the construction phase from 1997 to 2000, with Ulf Kotz, Klaus Matauschek, and Darius Foroutan as key team members. Originally planned as an office building for Generali Insurance, it was later leased to the NEWS publishing group. The office tower stands out prominently near the city center, marking the beginning of future development along the Danube Canal. The building sits on a plot of 1,807 m², with a total volume of 85,000 m³ and office space of around 9,000 m². The lower section of the building by the canal features a sleek, slightly inclined tower with a large, illuminated display board.
